WES will be the first ever school in India and South Asia to take a leading role in promoting ‘Education for Sustainable Development’. With the objective of creating awareness amongst students and providing quality education related to Environment, the “World Environment School”, will be based on Value Education, Flexible-Innovative Learning Spaces, International Curriculum, Regional and Global Focus. The school will be set up with assistance from Whitgift School, a leading British educational institute based in Croydon.

Apart from that “Centre for Environment Education” (CEE) a national level institution and Centre of Excellence in the field of environment education has worked closely with WES towards developing a curriculum framework.

Curriculum for WES has been developed by adopting EE’s pedagogy which is activity and inquiry-based to enhance student’s cognitive abilities. A study was also conducted to review current practices in other schools of India. A working session was planned and conducted during the “International Conference on Sustainability Education 2019” for wider inputs for the school which brought global experience from planners and practitioners. A ‘curriculum development consultation workshop’ was also organized to recommend approaches and processes for the school towards teaching, learning and assessment so that lifelong learning skills are fostered.
