In the next 20 to 30 years we will see citizens wearing oxygen masks!

To sensitize the citizens of our nation, experts in environmental protection and climate change recently came together in New Delhi at Climate Reality India to discuss ‘Climate Change: The Science, Effects and Mitigation Strategies’.

Speaking on climate change and the dire need to push for improvements, Shri Pradip Burman, Chairman of Dabur Nepal Pvt Ltd, Trustee of the Climate Reality Project in India, a part of Al Gore’s initiative said, “Climate change, not only in India but all over the world, is a serious threat to all living species. The immense damage to people’s health will have adverse effects on the future generations as well. Speaking of India, it is a country which is highly vulnerable to climate changes and its adverse effects. It’s a harsh reality that the day is not far when it would be next to impossible for us to breathe without oxygen masks.”

While emphasizing on the need to take serious action Mr Krishan Kalra, an engineer by training, and former Additional Secretary-General- FICCI and Trustee of the Climate Reality Project in India added, “We’re already witnessing detrimental consequences due to escalating heat levels, which is greatly affecting the mankind, plants, animals and ecosystems. This, coupled with increasing population, is tremendously catering to global warming and other threatening issues, ultimately resulting in the death of huge masses in India. However, we’re hoping that effective initiatives like the International Solar Alliance, and Clean Ganga Mission to name a few, undertaken by the government will massively help in plummeting the rising problems. That’s how we can fight these hazardous impediments to make India a better place to live.” at Climate Reality India.

While climate change is a global issue, it is felt on a local scale. Therefore, cities and municipalities are at the frontline of adaptation when it comes to switching to renewables that curb greenhouse emissions, prolonging healthy life on Earth.
